Disposable Glove Facts

The use of gloves by food workers can create a false sense of security and can lead to more risky behavior and cross-contamination if employees are not properly trained.

When gloves are worn properly, they can reduce the risk of pathogen transmission considerably, but glove use must be monitored carefully. Gloves should be considered an addition to, and not a replacement for hand washing.

Who? Any employee who will come into contact with ready to eat foods should use gloves (or tongs or deli tissure) to prevent bare hand contact.

What? Am I required to wear gloves when handling raw food? NO

When? Wash your hands after touching a dirty surface (including equipment, utensils, bathroom, hair, nose, and raw foods) Then put on a new clean pair of gloves. Gloves should be changed loften and between tasks. NEVER, wash your gloves or use hand sanitizer while your gloves are still on.

Where? Your Facility
