Parent-Volunteer Opportunities

Our parents are encouraged to visit the centers at any time that we have your child in our care. They are also encouraged to volunteer.

For many parents, serving as a Head Start volunteer is their first work experience. It can be the first step on a career ladder.

Head Start provides training and a support system for parent volunteers in an effort to make families become self-sufficient.

Some of the areas parents can volunteer include: Classroom Aides, Health Aides, Dietary Aides and Social Service Aides.

Sharing some of their skills and talents with other parents through workshops.

Parents are welcome to volunteer in any of the areas listed:

  • Help with recruitment
  • Assist teaching staff in the classroom
  • Help organize classrooms
  • Assist on field trips
  • Assist in planning special events for children
  • Help with art, craft, drama
  • Assist with making copies
  • Prepare materials at home
  • Plan games or toys for home learning activities
  • Help orientate new parents to the program
  • Assist in translating a foreign language at Parent Meeting or Workshop
  • Call parents to remind them of meetings
